Originally published in 1926, this short book focused on the symbolism surrounding the ancient patriarch Melchizedek serves as a concise introduction to important imperceptible truths.

“The elaborate rituals of the ancient Mysteries and the simpler ceremonials of modern religious institutions had a common purpose. Both were designed to preserve, by means of symbolic dramas and processionals, certain secret and holy processes, by the understanding of which man may more intelligently work out his salvation. The pages which follow will be devoted to an interpretation of some of these allegories according to the doctrine of the ancient seers and sages.”

Melchizedek and the Mystery of Fire A Treatise in Three Parts eBook Manly P Hall

First published in 1929. The liver is under the control of the planet Mars. The scarab beetle, the eagle, and the lion are symbols of the sun. Golden crowns of kings with radiating points were symbols that they had partaken part of the divine power of the sun. The halo is also emblematic of sun power. Today's Christians are ignorant of the fact that Biblical Christianity is a story that should not be interpreted as actual Biblical history. However, there are secrets concealed behind the parables and allegories. Christianity is a Mystery school and was founded by an initiate of the Essenian Mysteries. However, the original teachings have been perverted throughout the centuries. There are numerous mistakes in the translations of both the Old and New Testaments because the translators were not spiritually competent. The Old Testament was not to be considered literally, though there are secret teachings within it. Some think that it may have originated in Atlantis. Adam was not a man but a species, a race of creatures.
The Holy Land of all nations is the human body. Our own bodies are the Holy Sepulchres. The infidel dwells in the heart of man. The enemy to the faith is the lower nature of the individual. There is no Judas like selfishness. No betrayer like ignorance, no tyrant like pride. No Red Sea to be crossed, like the emotional nature of man surging outward form the red blood forming centers in the human liver.
These are immortal words: "There is nothing concealed that shall not be revealed; there is nothing hidden that shall not be made known." In what is called the consuming fire of the ancients, the red flame is the false light, the fire of passion and lust. There are three fires. The fire of divinity, the fire of humanity, and the fire of the demons. These three fires are enshrined within the nature of man.
The disciples of the ancient wisdom knew that during the dawn of this earth, the Sons of the Dawn, also known as the gods had arranged certain instructions which were deposited in safe places and after having insured that these doctrines would be preserved in order to save the race, the gods entered into the constitution of man and lost their identity. This is why it is said that the kingdom of heaven is within you. This kingdom of heaven includes the Divine Father, His Trinity, His seraphim, cherubim, powers, dominations, principalities, thrones, angels, and archangels. As heaven is in man's own nature, earth and hell are also in his constitution. Man is the appointed guardian of the mineral spirit. The infernal world is also part of himself. An infernal fire burns at the basis of his spine. It can be traced to the lower emotional centers of the human body. Man is heaven, earth and hell all in one, and his salvation is a much more personal problem than he realizes. Man himself is a galaxy of stars. Brilliant lights that cannot be seen but are felt as ringing sounds in the head. This radiant light is symbolic of the spirit.
The Temples of the Ancients were patterned after the human form; therefore, man's body is a living temple and he is a high priest, placed there to keep the House of the Lord in order. There are occult keys to human salvation. This is why the knowledge of self is the goal for which the wise of all ages have toiled so hard. This was the hope that sustained ancient initiantes to overcome the dangers, disappointments, and sacrifices. Some of these initiates were even aware that the price of this quest for truth would be their own lives.
In Central America, at the height of the Mexican Indian Mysteries the neophytes, among other things had to encounter, in gloomy caverns a creature called the Bat-God who was the size of a man and whose duty was to attempt to decapitate with its razor-sharp edge anyone seeking entrance to the Mysteries.
Fire is the Universal Deity. Mystics have traced sun worship back to early Lemuria and fire worship to the origin of the human race. The Atlanteans were sun worshippers. Remnants of earlier American Indians still regard the sun as a representation of the Supreme Light-Giver.
The twelve houses of the heavens symbolize the twelve signs of the zodiac. The annual death and resurrection of the sun is the esoteric/hidden symbol for the Gods of Christian religions. The Sun of God. The sun is also symbolized by an equilateral triangle. The three phases of the sun are called Will, Wisdom and Action. Please note that when the W in Will is capitalized it means the Universal Will and not the will of man. Every truly intelligent man or woman who is working to spread light in the world is Christ-ened, or Light-ened by the actual labors they seek to perform.
At least in part, Christianity has preserved the primitive fire worship of antiquity. This can be seen in their symbols and rituals. The incense burner used in Christian churches is a pagan symbol which relates to the regeneration of the human soul. Some authorities think that the cross was derived from the ancient Egyptians. Mr. Hall expounds on how others hold that the symbol of the cross had its origins by primitive peoples. Church steeples can be traced to the fire obelisks of Egypt. The custom of having churches face the East is evidence of the survival of sun worship. The golden ornaments of the altars of Christian churches are also a reminder that gold is the sacred metal of the sun. The candles are also a symbol of sun worship. And so is the oil used in anointing.
This is just a brief summary of the contents of this small book, which is worth it's weight in gold.
I never thought I would like electronic books/Kindle. But the more I use Kindle the more I like it. Especially since the prices are so reasonable. For the customer who complained about Kindle because he needed a dictionary, when reading the Kindle books, you just highlight the word, and the New Oxford American Dictionary immediately gives you the meaning of the word. Amazon is great, they think of everything!

Melchizedek and the Mystery of Fire A Treatise in Three Parts eBook Manly P Hall Reviews

This diminuitive book contains a significant amount of useful information on which to meditate and ponder. Focusing on the role of fire, fire worship and the sun in the spiritual development of man throughout the ages, Hall explores symbolism fromm the cavement through modern Freemasonry. Tying the role of fire through to the symbol of man - including occult anatomy of the spine and brain, Hall weaves together Eastern and Western philosophies - especially around Kundalini - to discuss the role of fire within man. An interesting work by an interesting philosopher.
As most of my mystical experiences have already involved fire in some form, Hall's excellent little book was a delight to read. He was a master builder in his field. I am an ardent fan. This book is very informative and easy to read. One should not approach his works, especially this book, with preconceived ideas about anything unless they are willing to reconsider and seek more insight into things.
A deep book for people capable of discernment and critical thinking. If you cant do those things, don't read this book. It will fry your brain.
If Manly P Hall wrote it, I want to read it... I love this man's genius and wisdom and I'm doing my best to get everything he has ever published in my library... He honors and respects philosophy, religion, and science and shows very clearly how they all support each other - he values the Ancient Wisdom of the Ages above all and is a wonderful teacher of what he knows... One of my favorite authors, or quite possibly, my favorite of all authors... I want to know everything that this man knew and more... ;-)
This booklet talks about various esoteric and philosophical concepts.

Hall believed that there are mystical connections between various organs in the human body and things like psychic abilities and etheric energies in nature. His view of the human body and how it functions was not purely scientific. He believed that a human being is primarily a spiritual being.

Like the ancient Egyptians Hall believed that people have both a physical body and an etheric body. The Egyptians actually had more 'divisions of the self' than just body, mind, and spirit.

He talks about the different glandular systems in the human body and how those affect the heath and mind of a person.

The subject of initiation comes up in this book and other books about philosophy and ancient mysteries. According to the legends the initiation candidates in Egypt and other places went through a training process where they learned about arcane and potentially dangerous knowledge. In some cases they experienced the initiation rites with their spiritual body as the physical body laid in a comatose like state. Hall believed that Jesus Christ, Pythagoras, Plato, and Aristotle experienced the initiation rites at some level.

The connection with Melchizedek is that he is like the father of these ancient mysteries. This knowledge is passed down to a chosen few in every generation. The initiates are sworn to secrecy about what they learn since this type of knowledge becomes very dangerous in the wrong hands as the Atlanteans found out.

Elisabeth Haich stated that Moses was also an initiate of that ancient and secret priesthood in Egypt, the 'Order Of Melchizedek'.

According to Edgar Cayce Adam, Melchizedek, and Jesus Christ are all the same person. He may also be Thoth, the great teacher of mathematics and occult sciences and the architect of the Great Pyramid. I think Hall is right that Christianity is just one part of a long process of spiritual evolution that traces its origins back to Atlantis and to other worlds really.

Manly Hall was well informed about the legends of the ancient past. Some of the things he says match up with the Edgar Cayce material and other mysterious sources. Hall says Christ was a member of the Essenes religious cult. Cayce agrees and adds that Christ traveled to Egypt and India with His cousin John The Baptist and Christ went through the Egyptian initiation process.

Like Helena Blavatsky, Earlyne Chaney, and others Hall had a sort of condescending view of Christianity as it exists today. He felt that the vast majority of modern Christians are ignorant about what Christianity really means. He mentions some branch of Gnosticism which he thinks captured the true meaning of Christ's message.

Gnosticism may have been a valid religion at one time but the so called scriptures that are associated with Gnosticism today are pure crap. I don't know what happened.

Hall's books are very informative but for me he sometimes gets too philosophical.
